  9. Hi, Recently acquired a rather large brass loco steam whistle intact weighing about 30 lbs. Believe it to be a Crosby KA 110 6″ version w/o valve. Have had no luck at all in determining even roughly it’s period of original production. It is about 20″ long X 6″ dia with a 1 1/2″ threaded inlet. The only external marking is cast in X 6532 on the end bell like area. Any info would be most appreciated. Thanks, Les

  10. I have what appears to be a heavy antique (or certainly vintage) brass 3 1/2″ x 13 1/2″ common steam whistle. The epi is approx. 3 3/4″ high and has about a 3/8″ throw/pull at the pipe and about 1 3/4″ at the end of the actuator. It has no markings on it and it is an estate sale find. It is for sale. Would love to upload a couple of pictures but cannot find the mechanism. If I do find it, I’ll will do so. Thanks. Randy M.

I am looking for a whistle that will emulate the sound of the whistle on this YouTube clip (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIW0Qxn6it4).

The Gin Shop Whistle was known in Prattville for years and years, as it was sounded at shift changes and at lunch.

Here at the hotel, we are looking to be able to recreate this sound with a whistle to bring a part of Prattville’s History to our guests. It would be best if there was a whistle that did not need steam to make the sound.

I look forward to hearing what advice you might have. I would be happy to call you if that would be best.

    All the best.
