Steam Whistles

Here you can see why we like to blow our whistles! The pretty ladies and seeing (others) them smile.

Our Little Whistle Blowin' Group (sometimes horns)
By Matthew Shawver

Our little "group" is probably the most active whistle blowers in the country, and we do it on a pretty large scale. From Modelers weekend to New Years, event after event, spreading the joy of whistles. Believe it or not, most people enjoy them. There is three to five of us at any given place, and about 15 whistles between us. Rain or shine, sleet or snow, we blow whistles no matter what.

Just recently, the* C&O Modelers Convention at Hawks Nest had us out for  two days straight (all day long) in the snow and rain and we had a blast. Usually we use air but once or twice a year we get steam either at Heritage Farms in Huntington, WV or Cass. Since we can't always have steam, the compressor we rent is  325 CFM at 125 PSI which blows whistles pretty good, but on New Years we get the mother of all; a 900 CFM 300 PSI mamma jamma - It will blow whistles like nobody's business.

It's not really the fact we like just whistles;  it's the fact we get hang out and get to share our passion or whistles and railroading. Most of the time we only talk about the latest news on steam-whistles yahoo group! BUT...If not the group where making fun of our horn loving buddys. So as you can tell we just flat out have a great time. I mean hey,  they let me pull the chord all I want, what more can someone ask for.

If you get the chance, come share a good time with us.
